School is coming to an end. Travel plans are being put in place. Finding creative ways to cool off over the summer are being established. Those opportunities are great but how do we not just fill our summer with “busyness?” How can we stay connected to a pattern of studying God’s Word?  What can help us not lose track of those friendships that are just starting to blossom?  Where can we find creative ways to serve others instead of only looking after our own interests?

Recently I was talking with someone and they said, “My friends are my family.”  Doesn’t that sound nice?  On the surface it makes sense.  Our friends are the people we see more frequently.  Our friends are probably the people we are more likely to ask for help.  Our friends don’t have a history of awkward experiences from the high’s and low’s of life, so it makes sense why we would drift toward friends as family.
