KID’S VILLAGE
“Train up a child in the way he should go, even when he is old he will not depart from it.”
Proverbs 22:6
Kid’s Village Vision
North Village Church is a non-denominational church in Austin built around Jesus and Bible teaching. Our children’s ministry, or Kid’s Village as we call it, has an age appropriate curriculum for infants to 5th graders. Our goal for this ministry is to play a part in each child’s story by planting gospel seeds, seeing them grow in their faith, helping them own their faith as they grow up, and encouraging them to trust Jesus.
I appreciate how much time the teachers put into planning their lessons. It brings me great joy that my eight-year-old son can tell me what he learned on Sunday in class.
When is Kid’s Village and how do I get there?
Infant – Age 2
The classrooms are always open for 0-4 year olds during Sunday service. We have a classroom for infants and toddlers and another for potty-trained preschoolers. Parents can check their little ones in at our welcome table inside the main entrance any time after 9:45am and pick them up within 15 minutes of service completion.
Kinder–Ages 3-5
We believe it is important for our children to participate in worship with their parents or families. We encourage our elementary students to participate in the first 2 songs of each worship service. After the second song, teachers will line up at the doors of the auditorium and lead the way to Kid’s Village. We ask the elementary students to stay for the entire worship service the first Sunday of every month, and on the fifth Sunday (when there are five Sundays in a month).
Developing, Growing, and Deepening the Faith of Our Children
1. Develop (Infant – 2 Year Olds)
We first teach kids to know who God is by reading His word, using interactive lessons, and teaching about God’s character. A love for God develops during this phase because the kids begin to realize God is love and He loves them.
2. Grow (Kinder – Ages 3-5)
Once a love is developed for God, NVC kids begin to live for Him. Teaching kids how to apply God’s principles in their daily lives, regularly reading His Word, and encouraging interaction in their community is how we grow in Christ.
3. Deepen (K-5th grades)
When we start to live for Him, we can start to teach Him to others. A huge step for these kids is beginning to see themselves as active members in the body of Christ. Kid’s Village classes now focus on learning to hold each other accountable through small groups, as well as examining areas where kids can see themselves as a significant member in God’s kingdom. Teaching their peers what a life of Christ looks like through service, deepens our kid’s relationship with Jesus.
Our Volunteers
All volunteers go through a background check, interview, and training before serving our kids. Investing in the next generation by working in the Kid’s Village and Youth Village is a great opportunity to serve. If you would like to help, contact the children’s director.
